"Your jewelry introduces you before you even speak so make sure it's the exclamation point of your outfit!!"
Born in California and raised in South Florida, Loret Gomez began to demonstrate her passion for art at a very young age. Her career as an artist began at the early age of ten while studying oil painting in Miami for many years under the direction of acclaimed Cuban artist and art teacher Menchu Gonzalez. In her early works, Loret focused on nature where her subjects included foliage and wild...
... life, and where she spent countless hours studying animal furs in order to capture the realism of their coats with the use of thin paint brushes.
During her early teen years, Loret began designing jewelry as a way to express her personal artistic and fashion style. “I fondly remember drawing my sketches and begging my mother to take me to the neighborhood jeweler to have my designs created. I would intricately explain every detail of my drawing to make my vision come to life.”
In her twenties, Loret traveled to Vittorio Veneto, Italy to further learn the history and craftmanship of the traditional art of Fresco under the supervision of Alma Ortolan, an Italian Art Conservator and Educator. While studying in Italy, Loret grew and developed a great interest in the use of natural raw materials that included sand from the rivers, in lieu of plaster, and pigments originating from the earth for the execution of the traditional techniques to the ancient craft and style of Fresco.
Years later, Loret studied acrylic painting under Darwin Leon, specializing in portraits. She broadened her art studies and techniques while also studying charcoal and sketching under Armando Droulers at the Art Center of South Florida. She also explored the art of mosaics under Morgan Lorenzo; and while on a trip to Valencia, Spain Loret had the fortune to come across an amazing collection of colored ethnic tiles that were being removed from the façade of a building which at the time was being renovated. Elated over the profound beauty and historic value of the broken tiles, Loret packed her luggage with the discarded broken tile pieces and traveled back home with them to the United States.
With a love for travel, Loret returned to Italy in 2007 and spent time in Tuscan Umbria to study stone sculpting under German sculptor Wolfgang Sandt. It was during this time that she officially decided to make jewelry design her lifetime passion.
As time went by, her passion for jewelry design grew even further. In 2008, she started studying metal smithing and the lost art of wax sculpting under Ruth Avra, Leslie LaCombe, Steve Brownlee, Ivry Rusillo, and Don Dietz. With great passion also came her desire to communicate and share her expressions, moods, and ideas through her jewelry art pieces.
Loret currently designs and creates handmade artisan jewelry, combining precious metals and the finest gemstones to produce memorable jewelry with brilliant color combinations, textures, and shapes.
Inspired by the different countries she has travelled to, her designs are all influenced by the unique essence of each country. She enjoys treasure hunting for unique materials which mostly include semi-precious stones from Latin America, Murano glass from Italy, pearls from China, black coral from our South Florida beaches and vintage artifacts from the world over.
Loret’s distinct, original, and inspirational jewelry pieces are uniquely designed for anyone who enjoys wearing a worldly personal piece that carries with it the pulse, the energy, the flavor, the heart and soul; of every street, village, town and city that she’s traveled to.
