The chain passes through a slider to allow the length of the chain to be adjustable. This versatility allows you to wear the necklace short or long, depending on your outfit. Dimensions: Pendant length is 2" with a width of 1". History: Fordite, also known as Motor Agate or Detriot Agate, is a unique vintage enamel material with an interesting history. Years ago, big automotive factories hand spray-painted their production cars. The oversprayed paint built up, producing many colorful layers, would hardened repeatedly in the ovens as the car bodies went into to cure the paint. Eventually, the paint build-up on the equipment became a problem. Crafty individuals with an eye for art started showing up at auto factories offering to help remove the problem. ☺ Sadly, the techniques that produced this great material years ago, are no longer in practice. The Fordite “mines” are dry.
