She is included in many public collections, including those of the Museo do Arte Moderno, Sao Paulo, Brazil, the California College of Arts and Crafts, and the Library of the British Museum. Her mural in the Beloit Municipal building is Wisconnsin's largest landscape painting.
She has won awards in exhibitions sponsored by the Wustum Museum, Neville Museum in Green Bay (WI), Toledo (Ohio) Museum of Art, Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors, Cooperstown (NY) Art Association and Naperville (IL) Art Association. The Old Town Chamber of Commerce Festival in Chicago and The Port Clinton Art Festival in Highland Park, (IL) have each twice given her work their "Best of Painting" prizes.
For the past 24 years, Ms. Hayden divided her time between New York City, where she maintained a studio at Kenkelebra House, and Sharon, Wisconsin. In New York she participated in shows at the National Arts Club, National Academy Museum, Museum of the City of New York and the Bowery Gallery. Her first one person show in New York took place at Reggio Gallery in May, 1997. She has had exhibitions at Dartmouth College and La Guardia college, and has painted in Ireland, France and Lithuania on Fellowships
