"Wearable Art clothing to fit your lifestyle, sustainably made in the USA"
My work is an ongoing experimentation that begins with sourcing natural fiber, sustainably sourced textiles. Then I create very cool one of a kind & limited edition clothing - draped, cut & sewn with particular attention to detail. My designs enlist the natural drape of the fabric to define and enhance the body. I digital print my art photography on natural fiber, sustainably sourced...
... textiles such as cotton, linen, hemp. Digital printing is so much more sustainable than traditional screen printing. There is very little water use, very little energy use, and almost no waste. Think of the connection between your computer and printer, only the printer for digital is very large, to fit rolls of fabric. And instead of inks, there are dyes.
I am currently working on a series of playful Frammento jackets, tunics and vests. A Frammento is a garment I create from post-production textile remnants. I finish the edges of each remnant and I sculpt; the textiles guide me to create a functional wearable art piece. These are sculptures for the body, made to be worn and styled as befits the wearer, from formal to casual. By virtue of their status as Frammenti they are one-of-a-kind.
Frammento is Italian for remnant. Frammenti is the plural. It sounds much sexier to call these wearable art pieces Frammenti, than to call them remnants!
I believe in uniting meticulous construction, superb garment styling, & natural/breathable materials to create clothing that moves with, and is flattering to, the body; my use of form and color is quite sophisticated.
