"I love it when my pieces flow naturally as if sprouting out of nature. My goal is to take what starts as messy inspiration and refine it into something beautiful. And when it all comes together, it's magical."

I create Fused Glass and Mixed Media Wall Art, Glass Table Sculptures, and Fused Glass Jewelry. My glass work is about mixing varying shapes and colors, often combining Dichroic glass with textured glass to get a 3D effect and not knowing what the result will be until I open up that kiln door. I use contour fusing, which allows you to see each element of the glass as if it were a brush stroke...

As for my Mixed Media on Canvas, I use the Pebeo Oil Paints or Acrylic Paints. Sometimes my process starts with an obsession about a shape I can't get out of my mind or the picture of an animal I want to paint. Sometimes the paint tells me what direction it wants to take, what color and textural combinations might work, and how it wants to be laid out.

I love fantasy, sci-fi and the fantastic, so my art often goes in that direction. I call it Kat's Magical Creations because I truly believe there's a little magic in each piece I create.

I'm an award-winning glass and mixed media artist who lives in the Chicago area with my husband and helper kitties, Ziggy and Reggie. My work can be seen at the Jackson Junge Art Gallery in Chicago and the Promise You Art House in Highland, IN. I have gallery representation through The Liz Long Gallery at the Chicago Urban Art Retreat Center.

I teach fused glass and art at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago. I also taught computer graphics at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines and in Skillpath Seminars around the country.
