Athan gains inspiration from the experiences that surrounded his life growing up in the vintage era such as being a display director at Sax Fifth Avenue, catering for premier dinner parties and the Broadway theatre lifestyle. He decided to pick up his painting again in his early adulthood and found himself creating with a sharp material. Painting with glass became his lifelong passion project.
