Description: This couple’s portrait was commissioned by one partner as a gift to the other (but she couldn’t keep a secret, so they both became involved in its creation). This painting was based a spontaneous photograph at a social event, showing that impromptu photographs (as opposed to staged sittings) can often make for great paintings.
