Title: 'Rousillon'

Description: Rousillon is a village in the Vaucluse area of Provence. Like so many villages in Provence, it’s very old with its ‘modern’ history dating to the Romans in 121 BC. Rousillon is most recognized for its ochre mines that supplied much of the worlds’ pigments for textiles and paints from about 1880 to 1930. In this photograph, one can see a few of the many variations of mined pigments. The painting on the door is not a typical decoration in the village but it does add to the colors found all around the small town. Taken with my Hasselblad 500 C, 80 mm Zeiss Planar lens and Kodak negative Film
