Title: Roman Forum and Palatine Hill 14 1/4 x 11 3/8
Description: The Roman Forum was the political, religious and commercial center of ancient Rome. The Palatine Hill was the site for the homes of the rich and powerful of ancient Rome. Rome began on the Palatine hill. This is where, according the legend, Romulus and Remus were found and raised by a she-wolf. After the fall of the Roman Empire, these areas fell into ruin. Excavations began in the 18th century and continue to this day. This painting depicts a section of the forum that lies at the foot of the Palatine hill.
