Description: Closeup macrophotograph of a fossil ammonite of the genus Cleoniceras from Madagascar. The sediments the organism came from are aged 110 MYA. Image colors altered. The living relatives of the ammonites are nautilus. The image, as prepared, has an archival matte lamination to remove light reflections and glare so no glass is used in this presentation.
