"I learn something from every student," she affirms. "Each person brings their unique creative talents and we all share in the learning process."

Karen is a member of Silk Painters International (SPIN), and founded the local SPIN chapter, Second Sunday Silk Painters, which meets monthly to explore a variety of silk painting techniques and to encourage new artists.

She delights in sharing her knowledge of silk fabrics, the dyes and paints formulated especially for silk's natural protein fibers, and the use of color to enhance the fluid drape of lovely silk fashions and accents for the home.

Karen was a member of the Illinois Artisans Program for over 10 years, demonstrating silk painting in downtown Chicago's Thompson Center, Springfield's Illinois State Museum Shop, and the Artisan's Village in Rend Lake, IL. Her work is available through the “I Love Chicago” shops in O’Hare’s International Terminal and North Michigan Avenue, plus various galleries and boutiques.

Karen serves on the faculty of the LaGrange Art League and the McCord Gallery in Palos Park. She demonstrates various silk painting techniques for other artist groups and community colleges throughout Illinois.
