I use layering, spreading, and scraping of oil paints and /or acrylics allowing the paint to produce unanticipated events on canvas or wood. I began my abstract painting style after studying David Alfaro Siqueiros and Gerhardt Richter. I admired the Siqueiros murals but it was his discovery and experimentation in fluid, accidental painting in the 1930s that captivated me. Now you see all types of Paint Pouring on YouTube, but Siqueiros was the first! I also loved the freeness and ease of the Richter abstracts! Experimenting with materials and techniques allows for unique results, rich in texture and mystery. “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.
