Title: The Matriarchs

Description: My husband and I were welcomed into our daughter's Peace Corps village (Daru, The Gambia, West Africa) by the entire population. I chose these two women from separate photos by my husband and drew them together to symbolize their quiet strength as matriarchs of the village. By intertwining their robes, they are united while maintaining their individuality. Framing is black wooden frame (35x43") with double white matting.
