" My desire is to create a beautiful, unique accessory for today's woman."
White silk is the blank canvas upon which I hand-paint. All designs are from my drawings, inspired by the local floral beauty of New Orleans and the whimsy of early 20th century decorative arts. After transferring my drawing to the blank silk and stretching it on a frame, I paint the entire piece of silk with fiber-reactive dyes. I use the serti technique, wherein a resist is applied to create...
... an enclosed space in which the dye flows. In order to achieve shading, I use a watercolor technique, blending colors within the area while the section is still wet. After the dyes are cured, I hand-wash the silk to completely remove the excess dye and chemicals, making the finished product hand-washable.
